Beauty Fridays: Wedding Day!

Vera Wang S/S 2011

As I'm writing this, Kate Middleton is getting ready to walk down the aisle. I'm not going to try and predict what she will wear or what her hair/makeup will be like. I guess we will know in a couple of hours.

But, if I was her, I would keep the makeup super simple, natural and glow-y. Like this look from Vera Wang S/S 2011 (predictable choice by me, I know). I think the biggest mistake most brides make is overdoing the look: busy eyes, harsh eyeliner, fake lashes, ridiculous amount of blush (or even worse: bronzer!) and lipgloss.

Makeup artist Lucia Pieroni used all Clé de Peau Beauté products (super expensive stuff!). So here is how I would do it in a (slightly) more affordable manner.

NARS 'Portobello' eye duo ($38 CAD at Sephora)

NARS 'Copacobana' illuminator ($36 CAD at Sephora)

By the way, I am, for the lack of a better term, obsessed with this illuminator. And people always compliment my skin when I wear it. It's freakin' amazing!

NARS 'Luster' blush ($29 CAD at Sephora)

NARS ' Honolulu Honey' lipstick ($30 CAD at Sephora)

Anyone getting married this summer?

  1. Me, in July. I love dewy make-up style but my face is so round. Confused!

  2. I'm completely addicted to the nars illuminator in orgasm. Kind of don't understand the people who don't like it. I think it's perfect.

  3. I've been wanting to start using an illuminator for my cheeks for a while now but I get the impression that when I try it,that there is no obvious glow, as if the skin absorbs it and it remains extremely subtle. Any other suggestions or reviews of the Nars one?

  4. Anonymous,

A bit of contouring can solve the round face issue - going a bit darker on the cheekbones and around the hairline.

    When is the wedding? Congrats!!!

  5. Roxana,

NARS 'Copacabana' is super subtle. It's very pale (as am I) so it literally looks like your skin is glowing under a certain light.

Sephora customers seem to like it too: http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P284301

  6. Anya, thanks, I just read the same reviews earlier, I might just have to try it out in the store first and then decide.

  8. dear anya

please don't try to emulate and glorify the lazy idle kate,
every ornament and stitch one her body was, is and will be paid by others (either her parents or the taxpaper), while poor english people struggle with over taxation , such a woman is not worthy of praise and respect, even with a crown on her head.
even a fashion lover needs to heed the ethnical aspect of the thing.

  10. Really it is absolutely true that Make-up can make you look ten years younger but how old do you feel and look is more important. Yes I love shimmer make up a lot. I liked your post. Really it was fully of my interest. Thank you.
