Sure, there was Natalie Portman in The Black Swan, but my favourite ballerina moment so far has been New York City Ballet's Janie Taylor in a dancing editorial and video for The Block/Nowness collaboration. She wears Chloe's stunning, already pretty much sold-out S/S '11 collection. Seeing it makes me want to pull out my pointe shoes and twirl all day long, except that I would probably dislocate my knee after more than a decade of not training.
Jaw-droppingly beautiful, right? The way Chloe clothing moves, the sheerness of the fabric revealing Taylor's spectacular form, a beautiful example what happens when two disciplines collide at their very best.
Club Monaco 'Pamera' skirt($129 at Club Monaco);
Of course, others are just as enamoured by ballerinas and their feminine, airy style. Not that full, fluffy or pleated skirts are ever out, but this season there is a plethora of them, from minis to maxis.
It's difficult to pick a favourite. Probably the Hussein Chalayan at the whopping $830 (but you should see it on the runway!). Or maybe the yellow Tibi maxi. But really, if I were rich, I'd take all of them!
Rag and Bone 'Desert' long skirt ($450 at Shopbop and La Garconne)

What a beautiful video! Thanks so much for posting it! I just recently got back in my pointe shoes after 17 years (!!!!), and you know, it's not nearly as painful as I thought it was going to be! I encourage you to do it if you have the urge...

I've had my eye on the Club Monaco Pamera skirt for awhile-I think it would look so nice with a blazer for work in the summer. Just wish it would come out in more colors-I don't look very good in peach.
Megan,
Oh it does! In yellow and white!
love those accordian skirts although i don't think they work on me.
what kind of top do you see pairing with this look?
A Beautiful Life,
Something simple like a tank top or a tee shirt.
French connection now carries a blue long sleeve knee length silk dress, which is pleated all over, with transparent blue long sleeves,
it is really is divine, and has a true ballerina touch to it.
also available in white
i think the name of the dress is called "dare to dream"
